The Queue: Revisiting the classics

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

I finally finished off a replay of Final Fantasy VI over the holiday weekend, after taking my time and dinking around to kit out every character with the best gear and spells. The game still totally holds up, if any of you are interested in diving into some retro gaming! It has a great story, great music, amazing characters and an opera sequence that I firmly believe everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Still one of my favorite FF games ever.

I should get back to Bioshock Infinite though, and finish that one off. Maybe I’ll stream that later this week, if you guys are still interested in watching me play! But for now, let’s answer your questions, shall we?

The Queue: Inexplicable chicken

Look while I appreciate how hard these guys in the image above are working, can we just address that there’s a giant leg of something that looks like chicken casually sitting there like a giant meaty paperweight? Where did it come from? What animal created this monstrosity? Who said “You know, I think for lunch today I’m gonna have a chunk of critter leg that’s bigger than my head, that sounds good?” Who took that bite? Nobody’s mouth is that big — are you guys hiding an ogre in the basement or something? Inquiring minds want to know.

Let’s see if we can answer some questions that aren’t thoroughly baffling mysteries, shall we?

The Queue: Roll for initiative

You know, what with all the real dungeons Azeroth is simply chock full of, I kind of wonder what a session of Azeroth-style D&D actually looks like. Who writes the sourcebooks? Is there a special Marcus compendium somewhere that nobody talks about? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Queue: Today is no joke

Look, yes, it’s the first of April and the internet is likely up to all kinds of shenanigans today, but I’d like to reassure you that no such shenanigans will be taking place here. Nope, you asked your questions, I’ll be giving you your answers, and we’ll be continuing on as usual. No shenanigans. I promise.

The Queue: I’ve got my eye on you

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Fun story: Way back when I was working on the WoW Ultimate Visual Guide, I had a helper on Blizzard’s team of historians that I could email regarding any questions. Poor Lor’themar had gone through a variety of model changes in which he did and then didn’t have his eye, despite supposedly having lost it in the Sunwell Trilogy manga. Since I was striving for complete accuracy, this led to one of the strangest emails I’ve had to write, simply titled “Lor’themar’s amazing vanishing and reappearing eyeball,” which asked for the official status of Lor’themar’s eyeball and how it went kaput.

I’m very pleased that Lor’themar now not only has a stunning new model, but there’s absolutely no doubt left that his eye is very much busted. (I was also told that this was far from the strangest question they’d ever received, which only reinforced my interest in working for that team someday.) But that’s enough about my strange question — let’s move on to yours, shall we?

The Queue: Sitting pretty

When I saw Talanji’s mount take a seat, my first reaction was “Oh my gosh this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” but it was quickly followed by, “Why don’t any of my raptor mounts do that?”

I do not have an answer. However, this has opened my eyes to a wild new world in which almost every mount could, in theory, take a seat and be pretty dang adorable while they do it. I think I really need this in my life — who’s with me?

The Queue: How do you like them apples?

The little Thieving Snappers in the Zocalo are probably some of my favorite little bits of flavor in the game right now. There’s just something about a tiny dino triumphantly snatching an apple the size of its head, you know? Good job, little dude. Now let’s get to your questions!
