The Queue: A lot can happen in a day
So just yesterday a murderer was convicted thanks to a herculean effort by a lot of people to overcome systemic racism, Jeff Kaplan left Blizzard, Jim Steinman died, and a whole lot more besides. It was a big day. On a personal front, I went to the doctor and found out I’m doing better health wise than I thought, which was nice, although I’m still a weird mutant who produces way too much iron. Sadly, it’s enough iron to make me sick, but not enough to grow steel hard skin or anything like that.
Anyway, let’s chat about Blizzard and games and stuff.
Chris Metzen’s Auroboros D&D setting raised nearly a half million dollars on day one of its Kickstarter
Kickstarter has become one of the biggest ways to promote self-pub or small publisher TTRPG projects, and the latest project from Chris Metzen's Warchief Gaming has proved the power of an established creator with a fanbase, because Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent has been out for almost a day and it's made almost $550k US as of this writing -- solidly eleven times its funding goal of $50,000.
What changes would you make to your favorite classes in WoW?
Titan's Grip for all three specs.
The Chronoboon Displacer will change the way you use World Buffs in WoW Classic
It's official -- WoW Classic is moving away from being a re-creation of original World of Warcraft and into new territory, even on Classic Era servers.
What’s the most fun you’ve ever had in a Blizzard game?
Okay, so this one's hard to answer and completely unfair because I personally have like six different answers.
Burning Crusade Classic will make even greater use of Phases to replicate the feeling of old content releases — but how well will it work?
If you played WoW Classic when it rolled out, you got to witness its phased content release schedule.
How important is it to you that lore continues from one WoW expansion to another?
The story of World of Warcraft is one that continues.
Kael’thas has a new voice actor in patch 9.1
The folks at Wowhead have a video comparing the original voice lines to the new ones, and it's subtle but definitely noticeable that in patch 9.1, Kael'thas Sunstrider is now being played by a new voice actor.
How long is too long between patches?
I've written on this subject before, of course -- back in 2015, for example, and boy howdy that was six years ago -- but seeing Reddit user cptshooter put together a timeline of every WoW expansion going back to vanilla showing when each patch dropped shows us that in Shadowlands we're likely going to be sitting through one of the longer gaps between major patches in World of Warcraft history.
How easy do you think it is to get into Hearthstone? What should a brand-new player know?
So I have this problem -- I've wanted to play Hearthstone for a while now.
