Matthew Rossi

Matthew Rossi @MatthewWRossi — Matthew Rossi is a synapsid, perhaps descended from Cynognathus. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up there before leaving to see the world and be mistaken for a sasquatch and/or minor singing celebrity in various locales. He currently lives and writes in Edmonton alongside his amazing and beautiful wife and their cats. He’s written three collections of speculative fiction, Things That Never Were, Bottled Demon and At Last, Atlantis. He loves playing warriors in World of Warcraft, barbarians in Diablo III, and he’s beginning to notice a pattern here.

đź”’ Dealing with the toxic player

We've seen the Overwatch team working on various ways to deal with player toxicity and bad behavior recently, but it's not a new problem nor is it confined to that game. Hearthstone doesn't even let you talk to other players and you can still have some bad experiences with emote spamming and the like (like that one player who starts using up every last second on their turn just to annoy you) and if you've played Heroes of the Storm or World of Warcraft you've likely run into your fair share of disagreeable behavior.

The Queue: Resident Permanently

It’s 12:35 AM as I type this and yesterday I finally, after eleven years, became a permanent resident of Canada. This is a really big step for me for a lot of reasons — it’s one big hurdle on the path to becoming a Canadian citizen out of the way, for example — but mostly it’s a huge relief and a weight off of my back.

This has nothing to do with the site, except it kind of does — I started working at the predecessor to this place back in 2007. It’s been a decade and whatever little corner of the internet I can call mine has been greatly expanded by y’all and the games we all talk about here. I’d probably not be here without you. And I don’t know if I’d have been able to get this done and finally be where I wanted to be. So thank you.

Let’s talk about stuff.

The Queue: Velen kills Talgath

I got chills when Velen finally got a measure of justice on Talgath, the Eredar who betrayed him and his family into Kil’jaeden’s hands and led Kil’jaeden’s forces up the mountain to capture Velen and the Draenei seeking to escape. Powerful moment.

This is the Queue. Let’s look at some questions.
