While Diablo 3's Season 23 does not have a theme, it does have updates to the follower system that will apply to both Seasonal and non-Seasonal play.

Diablo 3's patch 2.7.0 is now live, and while normally, I'd take this space to squee or raise an eyebrow about the upcoming season theme, honestly, the big change is in how followers will work.

Let's start with a question -- what is the first word that comes to mind when you think of those beautiful Diablo 4 demos from BlizzCon 2019 and clips from BlizzConline?

Diablo 3 has announced that Season 22 will be ending on March 28.

I say this as someone who has been playing World of Warcraft since release, who has played every single Diablo game the moment they came out, and who basically has found himself turned into a meme based on my love for specific classes in said games -- but sometimes I wonder why I'm so invested in these games.

When Diablo 4 was announced in 2019, the big consoles were Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the game was going to support both of them.

It's official: Diablo 3 Season 23 will start on April 2, just five days after Season 22 ends on March 28. While a rapid turnaround, this falls in line with how the Diablo team has handled longer seasons — like Season 22 — by leaving a very short gap between Seasons. I'd predicted either April 2 or April 9 launch for Season 23, and while I though we'd get the full 12 day break between Seasons, it turned out that Blizzard wants to get the Season to us sooner.

This may sound like a weird thing to ask, but I've been thinking about Diablo 4 and how the Action-RPG has evolved over the years, and how the storytelling on games like Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 centers the player and their choices.
