Overwatch 2

If you were on the internet at all last night, you may have heard a thing or two about the premiere of the 2018 Overwatch League matches.

The Overwatch League matches officially start tonight, and that means Blizzard has turned the hype up to eleven.

It was first announced at BlizzCon 2016. A year and a half of planning since that announcement has led us here. Opening Day for the inaugural season of Overwatch League kicks off today at 6 p.m. Central, live from Blizzard Arena.

Yesterday might have introduced all those sweet new Overwatch League skins, but there was a mountain of other noteworthy news in the latest Overwatch patch as well, which was released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

After the Overwatch League officially began with preseason show matches in December exclusively on MLG.tv -- i.e., not Twitch -- lots of people were wondering whether this would continue with the regular season.

The Overwatch League hype train has officially left the station.
