Suramar has some of the best lighting in game, but you don’t really notice it — the Inky Black Potion very quickly solves that problem. I think my favorite part about this is that you can usually see sky in the middle of Suramar’s trees — with the potion, it’s turned into a canvas of stars.

I think the Inky Black Potion takes the “Coolest New Thing” award for Legion. I mean people have been asking for darker nights for years, and now they have a way to get it. The Dreamgrove is absolutely beautiful — but that’s the case for pretty much anywhere with sunshafts. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, be sure to hit up Rona Greenteeth at the Darkmoon Faire before it disappears for the month and nab yourself a stack or two.

While traversing through Legion‘s newest dungeon on this week’s leveling stream, Mitch pointed out that you could see part of the Tomb of Sargeras raid far, far below. I like it when dungeons and raids intersect on different levels like this — I honestly can’t recall the last time we saw it happen. The first instance I can recall is when you could see Magtheridon through the floor of the Blood Furnace in Burning Crusade. It made the dungeon feel absolutely gigantic, it gave players who paid attention to the scenery a sneak peek at future content while they were leveling — and it also just felt really, really cool.

I was delighted but also a little mystified when we stumbled into the Hanging Gardens in the Cathedral of Eternal Night. Gardens were definitely not something I was expecting when we wandered into the zone. I mean sure, the place appeared to have been connected to Suramar at one point in time, but from what I was aware, this section of the Broken Isles was the one that Gul’dan lifted from the seas of Azeroth.
Were the gardens underwater all this time? Did the Nightborne start tending to the place at some point after Gul’dan raised it from the depths of the ocean? I don’t know if we’ll ever get an answer to that one — but I appreciated the unexpected burst of pretty scenery in the middle of all the fel green.

Why does Medivh have a mini-planetarium in his innermost sanctum? Was it something he knew about, or was this a secret Sargeras hideout for spying on the stars and figuring out which world to next destroy? And while I recognize a couple of those planets, there are many, many more that aren’t familiar at all. What are they? I guess we’ll never know will we — but hey, I can answer your questions and at least provide some answers today.

You know, when I first heard there was an upside-down Karazhan way back in the day, I always assumed it was just a portion of the tower that went underground. I never even considered the idea that it would simply occupy space on the original tower’s ceilings. Needless to say, I like the ceiling Karazhan much better than the idea of a subterranean tower.

Return to Karazhan is full of surprises — like the fact that Medivh’s library includes a full collection of Steamy Romance Novels. Were they for him, for the guests, or did Khadgar bring them in while he was serving as Medivh’s apprentice? The world may never know.

As a Rogue, I realize the class is very talented and all — but I wasn’t expecting Jorach and the rest of the Uncrowned gang to just…make the Chamber of Shadows completely disappear. I mean there’s subtlety, and then there’s ridiculousness, you know?

Part of the reason I liked Pandaria so much was the scenery. I mean, take a look at the screenshot above — it’s an idyllic scene that looks like it leapt straight out of a children’s book. Thinking on it, I think that’s part of the reason why the actions taken in Jade Forest bothered me so much. It was like we’d arrived in a perfectly charming edition of Peter Rabbit and arbitrarily decided to just straight up detonate Mr. McGregor’s garden.

In my zeal for completing…well, everything, I went back to the Terrace of Endless Spring last week and tackled the raid on Heroic. More accurately, I went in for a piece of gear for transmog purposes, and decided to just finish the entire raid. What I didn’t realize was that I hadn’t so much as attempted Heroic Sha of Fear before. Needless to say I was slightly taken aback when I found myself teleported to a vast expanse of nothing right in the middle of the fight. For a minute or two, I though the encounter had glitched out and chucked both myself and the boss through the world. Whoops!
