WoW’s heirlooms receive an item level update

If you’ve been leveling with upgraded heirlooms to speed the race from level 90 to level 100, you may have noticed that their item level isn’t impressive when compared to the gear you could pick up by running at-level dungeons. To fix this, Blizzard has applied a hotfix — which will be live as soon as today’s maintenance has completed — that will upgrade the item level of level 91 – to 100 heirlooms to be more in league with other gear. (And, though European servers haven’t been mentioned, we’d expect this same fix to be applied in their weekly maintenance tomorrow.)

So, we’ve just applied a hotfix that will increase the item levels of Heirlooms from levels 91 to 100 (live once scheduled maintenance completes). You may still find the occasional item that has slightly higher stats, but the frequency of that happening should be much lower.

For anyone working on getting an army of alts (or even their first character) to max level, this is great news… though it does mean you’ll have to shell out the gold to upgrade your heirlooms to level 100. But with an army of alts running gold-making garrisons, that should be easy, right? So get leveling!
