WRUP: This weekend, an arch nemesis shows up (and also, we play a lot of video games)
Hello, Friday friends and weekend wreaders! It’s the end of another week, which means the start of another WRUP (“What aRe yoU Playing?”). For this edition of WRUP, I put out the call to my nemesis, and she returned the call in kind.
In other words, a rarely sighted Rachelle Riddle will be reporting first for us this week.
Rachelle Riddle
- World of Warcraft
“What’s that? It’s Wednesday already?! Yes, my friends and Rachelle. Yes it is.”
Am I distinguished from “friends” because I’m not Mitch’s friend? Am I distinguished because I’m secretly Mitch’s bestest friend? The world may never know. But I’ve been called out and I am here.
It’s fitting really. I just started playing WoW again after a while. Coming back after only playing intermittently over 2 entire patches is weird. I feel like I missed so much. But I have flying in Zereth Mortis now and that’s what matters. Shout out to the warrior who, unprompted, ferried me around to get those pesky rares.
The Sims and my Nintendo Switch will be taking a back seat while I work on my army of alts. Maybe now I can accomplish my goal of acquiring every single transmog in the game. Oh, and I guess finding a group to do progression with. I’m hoping I can coerce my friends into doing Mythic keys again. But mostly the transmog.
Mitch “Mitch” Mitchell
- Elden Ring
- Kirby
- Mass Effect 3
- Overwatch
- WoW
For my part, it’s Easter weekend so it’s actually a lot of family time. We’ll be spending Saturday evening with my family, dying eggs before the inevitable hunt on Sunday morning. Then we’ll be heading to the GF’s side for more food and pastel-colored goodness.
In between, I’m going to attempt the usual (Elden Ring, Kirby, ME3) with a bit of Overwatch grinding and special guest WoW also making an appearance.

- D&D Witchlight
- Magic: The Gathering
- League of Legends
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Elden Ring
- Baldur’s Gate 3
D&D Witchlight campaign this weekend, which I am looking forward to.
I just finished constructing another MTG commander deck, this time based around Trelasarra, Moon Dancer a Drow Cleric Life-Gain deck and I’m excited to try to get some play testing in.
I’m still plucking away at Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring. The games are very large and I’m taking my time with them. So far, so good. I also plan on doing some League of Legends matches with my friends after Friday Night Magic, because I still absolutely love playing it with my friends.
I will also probably start yet another character in Baldur’s Gate 3 because I am eternally making characters and restarting games.
Oh, also just learned that No Man’s Sky is on Gamepass so installing the heck out of that.

- D&D Witchlight
- DC deck builder Rebirth
- DC deck builder Injustice
- Moon Knight
This weekend is Blizzard Watch’s D&D Witchlight, no longer in the Carnival. That’s my plan for Saturday. I’m also playing the DC Deckbuilding game, while I prefer the competitive ones, there is Rebirth, with is a cooperative game, of the superheroes teaming up against the villains, with a limited number of turns, based on when the villains make their appearances.
On top of that, a new version of the DC Deckbuilder has just appeared on Kickstarter, based on the video game Injustice. That might be worth checking out — I’m not playing that yet.
I’ve stared watching Disney+’s Moon Knight, one of the better Marvel shows. I don’t like having to wait a week for each show. I’ve finished all the shows I was bingeing, time to find something new, that’ll be in next week’s WRUP, though.

- Bejeweled
- Cyberpunk 2077
I even downloaded Bejeweled on my iPad so I could play it while I was playing Cyberpunk 2077. I like to imagine V playing it on her Kiroshi smarteyes while she’s shooting people.

- Star Wars: The Old Republic
- Lego Star Wars: the Skywalker Saga
The Easter holiday is going to dominate my weekend as well. It’ll start with Good Friday services on Friday evening. Then Little Hammer will be among the throng of children at my church’s Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning. This is the last year he can participate. He’s not so “little” anymore. We got him a dinosaur themed egg decorating kit for Saturday afternoon.
Then we’ll have a full day on Sunday with morning services, and a family egg hunt in the backyard. Somewhere in all that, I’m sure I’ll get in some time with Star Wars: The Old Republic. I’m enjoying my Bounty Hunter Sniper quite a bit. Little Hammer and I are having a blast with Lego Star Wars: the Skywalker Saga. We finished the A New Hope chapter and we’re working on The Empire Strikes Back levels.

- Tokyo Mirage Sessions
- Ys: Origin
- KOF XV
I’m still working on Tokyo Mirage Sessions (at the final chapter now, though!) and Ys: Origin. And looking at what to play next, from so many options. My backlog is dark and full of terrors.
In addition to that, KOF XV just got a free DLC update with a boss challenge mode, so I’m looking forward to having Omega Rugal kill me over and over and over.
Anna Bell
- The Beast Inside
- Cat Café Manager
- Cozy Grove
As per usual, the games I’ve been playing this week are very different from each other.
On the one hand, I played The Beast Inside, a narrative-heavy game with a whole lot of gore. It was enjoyable enough — the story was predictable, and there were lots of jump scares, but the environmental artists completely blew me away, and the puzzles were fun and engaging. My one real quibble is that, after 13 story ‘chapters,’ there’s a set of three either-or choices in the final five minutes of the game. Think “mountains or ocean,” but like, really gross and spooky. So with three choices, there are eight total permutations of “A or B,” and each one leads to a different ending. Cool! I want to see more of them! The thing is, after you finish, there’s no option to choose chapters. There isn’t even a New Game+ option. So in order to see a different ending (and let’s be real, get the achievements for the different endings, because I’m sure I can just watch them on YouTube) I have to play through the entire game again to make those three last-minute choices. It kinda soured me on the whole experience, except the eclectic decor.
I also picked up Cat Café Manager, which launched yesterday. It’s super cute, but the intricacies of running a cat café are a little bit more than I bargained for. I assumed it would be very chill, but instead I’m over here trying to serve customers and attract new stray cats and cook food and clean up. It’s still fun, and it looks like I’ll be able to hire staff to help to minimize a lot of the stress, but it isn’t quite as wholesome and relaxing as I thought it would be. It’ll be fun to go back and forth between this and Cozy Grove when I need a break from, you know, the other stuff I play.

- Diablo 3
- Animal Crossing New Horizon
- Turning Red
Blue Rose Watch: still nada. Keep checking in weekly!
The new season of D3 is pretty much here (by the time you’re reading this, at least) and I’m trying something new for myself. I’m going to complete the season’s journey with the following parameters:
- SSF to level 70 (maybe the whole season, not sure yet)
- No more than 100 hours played total
I think this will make things really, REALLY interesting for me. And I really, REALLY want to watch Turning Red with the other half. Disney and Pixar are huge favorites in this household.
That’s WRUP for this week! I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend, whether you celebrate holidays or just plain relax and do nothing. And if you have a spare moment, why not let us know what you’re up to this week?
