All the official information on World of Warcraft: Midnight released by Blizzard at Gamescom (so far)

After a few weeks of post-Gamescom waiting, Blizzard suddenly released a positive deluge of information on all of its World of Warcraft: Midnight announcements. Weirdly, it is both a lot and also not enough for those of us who are entirely too inquisitive, but it does give us an official record of Midnight’s features, right from the source.

If you haven’t kept up with all of these blog posts, never fear: we’ve got your back and have pulled together all of Blizzard’s official announcements in one place for easy reference. Whether you want to dig into every article or you’re just hit by the “too much information” overwhelm and want an overview, let’s run through every article about Midnight that Blizzard has released following Gamescom 2025. Here’s what we know (officially) about Midnight.

Everything new in Midnight

Midnight: Come Home to Azeroth with Housing is the next in a series of articles on the long-awaited Player Housing system. This is a solid overview of the new system (even if you haven’t been following its development), but the highlights are:

  • Housing should be for everyone, with “no exorbitant requirements or high purchase costs, no lotteries, and no onerous upkeep” — we agree, but how much will it cost, Blizz?
  • Details on how housing customization works; interior customization is unrestricted, but your home’s external appearance does come with caveats — even though there are four different themed “kits” available to you, the kits you can use are bound to your neighborhood’s faction. No Night Elf moons in my Horde Neighborhood.
  • There are two types of neighborhoods: public (open for anyone to buy a house) and private (created by player groupings through either Guilds or independent Charters).
    • Neighborhood zones are Founder’s Point (Alliance) and Razorwind Shores (Horde).
    • Each will have different plot locations (both isolated and grouped) and biomes.
  • More information on the Neighborhood-wide Endeavor activities and an open house video.

Wow, we’ve definitely fleshed some more out! Need to catch up on past information?

But housing is not the only new thing coming in Midnight (just maybe the most exciting). Other new systems in Midnight include:

Midnight’s Zones, Dungeons, Delves, and Raids

Explore the Zones of Midnight is a more detailed accounting of the first four zones we’ll encounter in the expansion. Each beautiful zone will present unique challenges as we assist its locals in the ongoing battle against the Void’s incursion. Our efforts will be split between two redesigned and two new zones:

  • Eversong Woods, home of the Blood Elves, is now a combination of the original Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands. Healed from the major wounds of the Scourge invasion, we’ll start here assisting the sin’dorei from “threats both familiar and new.” Bonus — flight will be possible now!
  • Zul’Aman, the newly expanded territory of the Amani Trolls, is our second “familiar zone,” where we will meet Zul’jin’s grandchildren leading the fallen empire. The overhanging threat of the Void is starting to shake up the “uneasy peace” between the Amani and their former enemies, the blood elves of Quel’Thalas.
  • Harandar is the newly introduced “fungal jungle,” the home of the Haranir found at the convergence of the world trees’ roots. Housing a deep wound known as the Rift of Aln, where “the barrier between dreams and reality grows thin,” the Haranir are threatened by madness from their goddess’ pain as well as the nightmares that emerge from the rift.
  • Voidstorm is our second new zone, albeit one of “all-consuming cosmic predation,” where we take the fight to Xal’atath’s sanctuary in the Voidspire raid. Our explorations are aided by the ren’dorei, the elves banished from Silvermoon for researching the Void, despite the possibility of the Voidstorm’s power overwhelming them. But remember, “safety is not guaranteed here.”

Curious about the broader challenges out there, waiting for you?

  • Battle Through Three New Raids in Midnight outlines the three raids (and nine bosses) we’ll tackle over the course of Season 1. Unfortunately, it sounds like the Dreamrift will not have story mode, but we’ll have our climactic return to the Sunwell Plateau in the March of Quel’Danas as well as the direct conflict with Xal’atath’s minions in The Voidspire to occupy us.
  • New Challenges are Ahead in the Dungeons of Midnight where we experience eight new dungeons — three of which are in very similar territory. Yes, we’re returning to Magister’s Terrace (reimagined and expanded), Murder Row (to expose a hidden ring of blood elves practicing forbidden Fel Magic), and Windrunner Spire (with multiple wings detailing the tragic story of the Windrunner family) in dungeon forms.
  • Unleash Your Skills in Midnight’s New Delves with your new companion for the expansion, the blood elf rogue Valeera SanguinarMidnight‘s eleven delves will have some expanded variety to them — new layouts and enemies, based on feedback from The War Within — as well as a few set outdoors. Either way, Valeera will “hopefully avoid standing in things she shouldn’t” which will be an improvement on Brann.

Midnight’s user experience changes

New or Returning, Take Your Character to the Next Level! Yes, coming in 11.2.7 (instead of having to wait for Midnight), new players will experience a refreshed version of Exile’s Reach that flows directly into the Dragonflight expansion. Your new character can experience all of Dragonflight’s story while leveling to 70 and roll directly into The War Within to go from 70 to 80. Additionally, the leveling campaign will now “include several pieces of content,” such as story mode raids, that previously required players to hit endgame to access.

Meanwhile, the returning player system is getting a dusting, too! Instead of just resetting gear and quests, players who opt into the Returning Player Experience will now head to the Arathi Highlands to assist Thrall or Jaina for walkthroughs on any new systems such as Skyriding. This is optional — it can be left at any time, and is accessible whenever you want from within the game.

Now the third (and most interesting) improvement is open to all, whether you’re new, returning, or just need a refresher — an accelerated play-through recapping The War Within. The expansion recap will take you through the complete first chapter of the Worldsoul Saga following the story of its main chararcters, “beginning on the Isle of Dorn and delivering you to the broken world of K’aresh,” in a few hours of playtime. This will be the default option for leveling from 70 to 80 — delivering you right at Midnight‘s doorstep, ready to play.

But of course, it’s not just leveling that’s getting shined up in the expansion:

  • Get a Glow up With Transmog Updates in Midnight (even though it isn’t free). We’ve talked a lot about these changes, but in short: appearances will apply to gear slots now instead of items, gold cost is now associated with updating an outfit slot and unlocking a new outfit slot, but no, we still don’t know what the new costs will be. However, swapping between your saved outfits is free and can happen at the press of an action bar button or automatically based on situation options (running a dungeon, in town, at home, etc).
  • Midnight: Get up to Speed with User Interface Updates continues us down the path of the in-game UI replacing elements that players have come to rely on add-ons to handle. This time, it’s nameplate improvements, a new damage meter for the base UI, boss alerts as part of raid design, and more.
  • Take up Arms with Midnight’s PvP Updates as you prepare to experience a new 40 vs 40 “epic battleground” inspired by past battles such as Alterac Valley, open world PvP opportunities in the Voidstorm, and a Training Grounds area that expands on the idea behind Comp Stomp to train new PvP players against game controlled opponents in familiar forums (Arathi Basin, Silvershard Mines, and the Battle for Gilneas).

Blizzard’s Midnight Roundups

All this information bounty in one place following the frustrations of the news rollout during gamescom 2025 is kind of nice, although honestly it’s also a lot in one go. Hopefully, our own roundup here has helped you in your expansion information hunting. See you in Midnight!
