The Queue: Valheim

Ah, to be a dead viking, rafting on the water, probably about to get eaten by a sea monster and lose everything. It’s odd, because there are certain things about this game that are undeniably breathtaking and beautiful. The way the light glimmers red on the water as the last sliver of sun sinks slowly past the horizon, for instance, or the way the game plays with depth of field to make you feel truly immersed in the landscape. But my god does my character look like a two-polygon potato.

This is The Queue, where you ask questions and we break our summery escapism and wrap ourselves in a few dozen blankets to get you the answers.

The Queue: One of these days, I’ll learn.

Once again it is Tuesday, and once again I definitely did not forget it was server maintenance and as such I am using a current screenshot I planned and took in advance before the servers went down, not an older one. Yes, this definitely reflects the current state of things in-game! Nothing at all to mark this as time-sensitive!

This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and we definitely don’t procrastinate on the answers.

The Queue: That post-holiday feeling

I didn’t think it was possible to be more exhausted than I was last week (or was it the week before last?) but as it turns out, a diet rich in cookies and not much else will really take a lot out of you.

This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and we answer them while our pancreas silently begs us to eat a damn vegetable, any vegetable, please.

The Queue: The Long Dark

I wrote this Queue during the longest night of the longest year of all our lives, so it seemed fitting to take the opportunity to go play my favorite non-Blizzard game. Even more appropriately, one of the main dangers in The Long Dark is a literal blizzard. However, unfortunately, the game actively discourages me from making friends with bears.

This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and we’re grateful you do, because we can stay warm by the light of our monitors while we answer.
