Matthew Rossi

Matthew Rossi @MatthewWRossi — Matthew Rossi is a synapsid, perhaps descended from Cynognathus. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up there before leaving to see the world and be mistaken for a sasquatch and/or minor singing celebrity in various locales. He currently lives and writes in Edmonton alongside his amazing and beautiful wife and their cats. He’s written three collections of speculative fiction, Things That Never Were, Bottled Demon and At Last, Atlantis. He loves playing warriors in World of Warcraft, barbarians in Diablo III, and he’s beginning to notice a pattern here.

Secrets of the Storm comic sets up the lore behind the Alterac Pass map

The interesting experiment in Heroes of the Storm to play around with the lore of the game (which is itself a kind of meta-narrative since the heroes come from the various Blizzard games, which are otherwise narratively disconnected, to the point where Overwatch characters actually go to a theme park that is based on all of Blizzard's other games) advances with Secrets of the Storm, a new comic by writer Valerie Watrous, Suqling and Peter Lee on art, and cover by Frances Lane.

Know Your Lore: What do we expect to see in Diablo 4?

The lore of the Diablo franchise has gotten deeper and more involved with every new game, expanding from the small town of Tristram and the catacombs beneath the cathedral there to a globe-spanning adventure that led to Hell itself and finally in Diablo 3 we went to the Heavens and Pandemonium in turn. We've seen nightmarish monsters, Baal's army overwhelm the Barbarians and the destruction of the Worldstone, the siege of the Crystal Arch and the Nephalem stand triumphant against a former Archangel with the power of all seven Evils in its grasp.
