The Queue: Tick tock goes the clock
It’s Wednesday afternoon and the Queue is not late, I meant to post it right now. This exact moment! The moment of arriving!
That’s a roundabout way of saying we’re planning to push the Queue back an hour permanently, scheduling it at 11am pacific/12pm mountain/1pm central (site time)/2pm eastern. (I have to write it out like that to try to stick the change in my own head.) It’s about standardizing post scheduling every day and keeping posts spread out throughout the day rather than clumped together (which tended to happen on podcast days when the podcast went live a half hour before the Queue). We’ll see how it goes.
Now, this is the Queue. Let’s talk.
The Queue: Time sensitive
It’s Nozdormu Day, so any wibbly-wobbly should be expected. It’s almost the end of the school year, but that’s impossible. And yet. By the way, Noblegarden is this week? I don’t…?
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we may answer… eventually. Anyone for a mixed drink with a little umbrella?
The Queue: Muscle Memory
It doesn’t matter how long it’s been between matches, I can’t start a game of Heroes of the Storm without a polite greeting and a “good luck, have fun.” I could have suffered a concussion and lost an arm, but I’d still do it!
It’s that important!
Ending with a GG and/or a “better luck next game” is also important, but that one can be tougher. Especially if you’ve just gotten run roughshod over and people have been being salty. I still try though, just maybe not super hard sometimes…
Hi friendos! Good luck and have fun, it’s time for — The Queue!
The Queue: Freaky Friday
Actual conversation in our Discord channel:
Liz: Wednesday queues are so easy! You get questions based on all the early week news!
Kalcheus: Friday queues are easier! It’s the end of the week, everyone is excited for the weekend!
Liz: You have it so easy!
Kalcheus: No you have it easy!
Liz & Kalcheus: I wish I could trade queues with you for just one day!
But of course it’s not just one day, it’s permanent (until it’s not)! Red and I will still be alternating weeks, though. So be sure to ask Red plenty of questions next Thursday!
Anyway while I try to figure out how to navigate life as a gnome, let’s answer some questions!
The Queue: Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader > Baldur’s Gate 3 please do @ me
You can also leave a comment here.
Now, keep in mind, I’m playing Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader more than a year after it was released. And it certainly loses in the comparison of graphics and animated cutscenes, with W40kRT being a more stylized game with a much darker and more grim tone than other Isometric CRPG’s (unless you’re Planescape Torment, in which case this could be said to be stealing your bit.)
Honestly, it’s not that this game is better than BG3, so much as it is to me more enjoyable to play than that game. Maybe it’s because you get to swing a giant chainsaw sword around and set things on fire with your mind while flirting with a completely deranged psyker who enjoys screaming people to death, I don’t know. I do know that the inventory system is not what I would call good.
The Queue: Hello!
Good afternoon, Queue! I will be your host today, and am going to be making a permanent swap to doing the Queue on Wednesday because I keep getting really busy on Thursday/Friday which has occasionally resulted in late Queues. (Definitely not just because I’m staying up to watch Critical Role, I am legitimately very busy at the end of the week, definitely.)
But enough about me. How are you all doing? Let’s answer some questions, Queue.
The Queue: A peaceful stop
I’ve been having a bit of a love/hate relationship with cozy games of late, because to me there can be a fine line between smoothing over the rougher edges of reality and utterly obliterating them to the extent that it seems like a cruel mockery of lived experience. I’ve enjoyed Wanderstop so far, and part of that is that there’s clearly some kind of magic surrounding the tea shop, where you don’t have to worry about your expertise as a tea seller or the solvency of the shop. The other is that this is a temporary escape, a short respite to breathe deep, enjoy your surroundings and the tea, and then move on. Of course, the escapism is that you get to move on when you’re ready and only then, but who’s counting.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and just sit for a minute. Listen to the birds. It’ll be okay.
The Queue: Holding out for a
I know that the odds of Heroes of the Storm coming back into full production are pretty low, but that doesn’t stop me from taking a big whiff of Hopium every time we get news about it! Did you know that with Microsoft PC Gamepass you now get a nice pack of 30 Heroes in Heroes to play with? So if you were ever like, how do I even get into it when I don’t want to be relying on just the basic stuff like Jim Raynor. Now’s your opportunity!
Surely this means that Microsoft is looking at ways to build some hype prior to a full-throated re-launch at BlizzCon ’26!
While I start building my expectations sky-high, it’s time for — The Queue!
The Queue: When will the indignities end?
This is very undignified. That’s really all there is to say about it. At least last time this happened I was right-side up. But no.
Anyway, while I’m here I may as well try to answer some questions before the blood all rushes to my head and I pass out. Let’s Queue.
The Queue: Lucky for me I don’t believe in luck
I was going to try and be clever but let’s face it, nobody comes here for that. Let’s do the Queue, everybody.
