Contrary to the title, we're not actually going to talk about the lore spoilers that are floating out there in this week's roleplaying column.
When it comes to gaming, everyone seems to have different preferences for how they play, and sometimes those preferences change depending on what's happening in-game.
Roleplaying is pretty much a social activity.
You don't necessarily have to utilize current game lore for your roleplay, but many players choose to do so.
World of Warcraft is a gigantic game, full of plenty of things to do besides just roleplaying -- obviously if you want to roleplay with anyone, anywhere, you should probably be max level in order to get where you need to be.
Roleplaying is one of those activities that not everyone actually participates in -- in fact, the majority of people playing World of Warcraft are simply playing to do PVE or PVP content. Roleplaying is kind of niche content in that way, and although it isn't actively promoted by Blizzard, they do have realms available for roleplayers. While there's nothing stopping you from roleplaying on a PVE or PVP server, you're apt to find a lot more roleplayers on the realms that have been specifically designated for that purpose.
If you've got your character set and you're ready to begin roleplaying in game, you might want to take a moment to look for roleplaying addons. While you wouldn't think addons would be a requirement of roleplaying, of all things, there are actually several options out there that serve as incredibly useful tools.
Typically, trolls in World of Warcraft have roughly the same life span as humans and orcs -- they mature at about the same age, get old at about the same age, and "old age" is roughly the same.
Introduced in Burning Crusade, this race of space-traveling eredar who avoided corruption by Sargeras has a story that spans back thousands upon thousands of years, longer than even the history of the night elves -- and with far less definition. If you want a solid list of historical references and events that shape your character, playing a human, orc or even elf would probably suit you nicely. If you want a gigantic expanse of absolutely nothing that you can proceed to fill at your leisure, you might want to look at a draenei.
On the one hand, deciding an appropriate age for your orc may seem like a simple task -- they have lifespans similar to humans, after all. However, orcs are deceptively complicated, largely due to aging hijinks with the original Horde.
