Meet the adorable and excellently-named pets of the Blizzard Watch staff
I have a tragic confession to make: I have no pets of my own. Yes, the real reason I am a world-class consumer of cute animal videos is in a meager effort to make up for the dearth of a critter in my day-to-day life. Fortunately, my fellow writers are not so pet-less as I. Today, they are sharing their furry friends with you for some Friday cuteness.
And if you read that and thought, “but MY dog/cat/hamster/teacup pig/kinkajou is the cutest of them all,” then fret not! I’m going to have entire weeks dedicated to reader pets in the future. Keep an eye on our Twitter handle, for you never know when the call for your best pet photos might come. In the meantime, I’m pleased to present the pets of the Blizzard Watch staff.
The triple threat – canine edition
Elizabeth Harper provided this festive photo, which apparently took almost an entire box of treats to get properly posed. Models, amirite?
The tiniest little scrap of a kitty cat
This teensy girl belongs to Ted Atchley, who says: “This is Omega. We adopted her after her momma was hit by a car. She’s about seven weeks old.”
A floof who’s just happy that you’re here
This is Marshmallow, Christian’s good doggo. Look at that pup! Look how cute it is!
Blizzard Watch does not recommend keeping Zerg as pets
But we do recommend giving your cats funny hats, as Cory Taylor demonstrates to grand effect with Bacardi.
Mitch really loves cats
From left to right, we have Slurpie, Rowie, and MacGyver. Although MacGyver is no longer with us, he was Mitch’s very first cat and a very good feline friend 🖤 Mitch loves all these cats very much.
Also according to Mitch, he’s “friends with a lot of other cats,” which, yeah, that fits.
Proof that cats and dogs can be friends
Demonstrated most adorably by Samus the cat and Tristana the doggo, who live with Joe Perez.
“When you stare into the cuteness void…”
Joe is also the keeper of this creature of shadow. He says: “The black void is Raven and she is afraid of everything.”
The triple threat – feline edition
Here’s a rare sighting from Deb Montague: “I am managed (owned?) by these three. This is the ONLY time they have EVER been on the couch at the same time and I have no idea why. It just happened. Left to right we have: The Void a.k.a. HRH Pilchard; Hamlet; and Mija.”
Dogs just wanna have fun
And Marrina is obviously having a lot of fun romping in the snow, as well as living with Matthew Rossi.
Ginger lovers unite!
Matthew’s pet posse also includes three feline members: “My orange cat Sasquatch…”
Those big eyes, come on
“…my love demon beard licking will kill the vaccum cleaner cat, Puck…”
It’s exhausting being this cute
And finally “…my cat who has no self preservation instinct at all, Aurora.” Brownie points to anyone who noticed that they’re all named for Alpha Flight.
Why sit in the box when you can sit ON the box?
Finally, this beastie is besties with Liz Patt (who is very wise and suggested showing off staff pets). Liz says: “This is Jack, aka Jack the Nipper, aka Jacqueline Lucille (when she misbehaves). She is my Supurrvisor in most things and still tries to eat the one plant I haven’t murdered, even though she knows it leads to immediate office exile.”
