With the new Phantom Liberty expansion coming to Cyberpunk 2077 alongside a free 2.0 update to the base game for everyone, it's fair to say that the game is getting a significant overhaul.

While it seems like everybody else was excited for Baldur's Gate 3 this month, I actually had my eye on two very different games: Stray Gods and Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood.

I might  be unusual for this, but there are games I play to simply unwind and vent.

One of the reasons I can't quit tabletop role-playing games, even with all the video games I play, is because I can't get past the human factor that occurs in said tabletop games.

I have played a mountain of video games, especially role playing games like the Baldur's Gate series -- the old-school, isometric style of gameplay where the map is static and combat is turn based.

Right now, the two games battling for supremacy atop my personal heap of video games I'm trying to play are Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3, while I've sort of taken a break from World of Warcraft for a while (although that gets harder every passing day).

I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 and Diablo 4 and, man, if you'd told me around 25 years ago that the two biggest games of 2023 would be a Baldur's Gate game and a Diablo game, I probably would have actually believe you -- which isn't something that could be said of most series.

The long awaited launch of Baldur's Gate 3 is rapidly approaching, with a worldwide PC release this week on Thursday, August 3 at 8am pacific (check the image below for your time zone).
