The Queue: La Vie en rose

Tirisfal isn’t what it used to be, but that doesn’t make it feel any less like “home” to me in the world of Azeroth. It’s where my journey into the game first began — the music, the NPC voice lines, the unexpectedly high-level mobs just beyond the Bulwark… it all brings me back. What do you consider “home” to be in WoW? Or is this just a game and sentimentality dead?

Ponder that while you read some questions!

The Queue: Your friends will explode

Back in the day I raided in AQ 40 when it was the hot new raid and we’d just mastered writing. One of the things that was weird and cool about that raid was, C’thun (the Old God who was the big boss of the raid) would randomly whisper things like Your heart will explode or your friends will abandon you to your raid. Now, my wife Julian used to play in the same room as I did, and as a result often C’thun would whisper to her and then to me within a second or so. As a result, the whispers would get mangled together, and we’d often hear Your heart will abandon you or your friends will explode, which to our mind was both every bit as creepy and also a touch more bizarre as threats go.

Your Heart Will Abandon You sounds like a 70’s country song to me.

Anyway, this is the Queue. My new book is out, if you like weird Lovecraftian monsters making friends explode. Even if you don’t.

The Queue: This pear, so delicious

I have to say, despite the hassle at the end, I really enjoyed the Rogue class mount quests. They made me remember why I like playing a Rogue so much — skulking around in the middle of places I definitely should not be. It took a little longer than expected to carry out the last leg of the mission, but it was totally worth it.

…I don’t think I’m going to show my face in Stormwind again for a while, though.

The Queue: The lovable quip-meister

Hello, everyone! Just your friendly neighborhood Mitch dropping by to say the Tuesday Queue belongs to me now! Mwahahahaha!

…Okay, but really, it’s pretty dang cool to have my own Queue day. It’s something I’ve daydreamed about for a long time, and it’s an honor to be able to say that daydream is now a reality. Better yet, I’ll be on the podcast regularly starting today (Note: It’s now an hour earlier), which makes Tuesdays All-You-Can-Mitch Day. Or something. I don’t know, I’m tired.

Anyhow, follow your dreams, kids! Unless you only have bad dreams or you dream about being financially irresponsible. Then don’t. And with that all said, let’s do some Qing and Aing.

The Queue: King of the North

Welcome to the first Queue I write since we reorganized the site. As you can see, I have gained a new title, and with it, all the attendant powers and responsibilities therein. I intend my rule to be just, fair, and utterly without mercy.

Your questions. Let me feast upon their souls.

I assume I can do that now.

The Queue: Illustrious portents

Greetings and salutations, gentle readers. I have returned only to note that change is on the wind. In the vast expanse beyond your being, a time has coalesced and taken form: 9pm Central. This bright and shining future is nigh — in approximately nine hours. Until then, let us not dwell upon events that have yet to be, and instead return to reflect upon your questions, and their corresponding answers. I now return you to this, your regularly scheduled Queue.

…Does anyone else have a sudden headache?

The Queue: Later, nerds

Today’s edition of the Queue is my last as a regular Queue contributor and my last as Editor-in-Chief. (Note the little addition they made to my title in my byline.) If you haven’t yet heard, I’m stepping down from my current role at Blizzard Watch. I’ve shared the full details on my personal blog, but here’s the short version: Don’t worry about it. I’m okay. Everyone’s okay. There’s no drama. Blizzard Watch will be in good hands. Today is officially my last day, so expect news from the site’s new editorial team tomorrow. I’ll still be around contributing to news and what-have-you, and I might still be doing the podcast, but beyond that? We’ll see!

With that out of the way…
