In this week’s Arcane Sanctum, we interrupt our look at Blackrock Foundry for an important announcement. Patch 6.2 is on the PTR and that means we have our first look at what the future holds for mages!
First, let’s get this out of the way and just pull off the band-aid: these patch notes contain the sad news that Amplify Magic is going away. Some of you may find this sadder news than others. When I first read the patch notes, my immediate reaction was dismay. I’ve always enjoyed bringing utility to my raid. I liked having a cooldown I could use for the benefit of all. Unfortunately, it seems that Amplify Magic was just a little too beneficial.

Can't keep up with all of the great WoW-centric (and WoW-adjacent) webcomics out there?

Sometimes my followers really make me question why I recruited them in the first place. Rok’tar, don’t you have better things to be doing, like heading out for that mission I just assigned? Sheesh. Let’s answer some questions.

"I'm not much of a pet battler so I don't have a wide variety of pets at level 25," writes submitter Gimmlette of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "But I do check to see what battle pets are waiting for me, hoping they can rofflestomp the few I have available."

The latest build to the 6.2 PTR has seen a few more additions to the pet journal, as well as a new batch of legendary encounters described in the patch notes. Most of the new pets come from Fel-Touched Pet Supplies, granted from completing the new pet encounters in Tanaan Jungle.

Reddit poster Exil_ noted an unnannounced patch 6.2 change yesterday -- it appears that the female Human model has been updated. A quick look on the PTR reveals that female Human models have been retouched, and some of the textures for female Night Elves were also adjusted.

One of the constant discussions I've seen in my time covering World of Warcraft is that the game has a host of older content that is still fun and interesting and visually well designed, and all of that legacy content is sadly irrelevant as soon as the next expansion comes along. Well, one of the features of patch 6.2 that aims to change that is Timewalking. And Timewalking seems set to make us actually want to run older content again.

Goblins were first introduced as a playable race in Cataclysm alongside the worgen of the Alliance. And while the worgen, and Gilneas, have a rich history that goes all the way back to Strom and the founding of the first seven human kingdoms, goblins don't really have that kind of background. In fact, even though the goblins have been around as a race dating all the way back to the RTS games, they've never really been more than sidekicks at best, supporting characters and comic relief.

At first it looked like all I had to write about for the patch 6.2 warlock changes was that Demonology was nerfed pretty hard, but then I found some things like next tier's set bonuses and new demon models. So let's get to it. Mind you, the caveat about the PTR changing is always there, moreso now when we're at the beginning of the PTR.
