Tabletop RPG

Why fantasy tabletop gamers should be paying attention to Legend in the Mist, a stat-free rustic fantasy game due out this year

With the world's most widely-marketed tabletop RPG having a decidedly light product release schedule in 2025 (only three books and a weirdly-delayed starter set, plus a D&D-themed slot machine and AI content no one asked for), tabletop gamers might be wondering what exactly will be coming out this year to hold their interest or spark exciting new game ideas.

Hasbro continues to push AI content that no one asked for into Dungeons & Dragons in ongoing quest to ruin beloved TTRPG

During a September 10 Goldman-Sachs conference, where one can undoubtedly find serious players of interactive tabletop roleplaying games, Hasbro President Chris Cocks revealed AI is actively being used to develop games at the company, including Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons: "Inside of development, we've already been using AI...It's mostly machine-learning-based AI or proprietary AI as opposed to a ChatGPT approach.

Pick up and play: four tabletop RPG systems that are easy to learn (and aren’t D&D)

It's no secret that sometimes when trying to convince people to give a tabletop RPG other than Dungeons & Dragons a try, one of the protests that often crops up is, "it's too hard to learn new games!" To those of us already acquainted with other games, this seems ridiculous, but it's worth examining: after all, if you've only learned the rules to one game, and that game is wildly complex from the get-go, what evidence do you have that every game isn't like that?
