The Queue: Once more into the breach

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Alpha is an interesting place where the reality of the game world only half exists. One moment you’re traversing through what looks like a perfectly solid tunnel, the next you’re falling through a wonderland of textures to your certain demise.

But hey, it makes for some crazy screenshots, so it’s not all bad, right?

The Queue: They’re good dogs, Brent

World of Warcraft is full of h*ckin good doggos, but I have to say that Shu-zen is my new favorite. His floof ratings are off the charts (he’s already had to make a couple of stops at the salon), which serves the dual purpose of making him both cuddly and cute. And if that isn’t enough, he howls and it is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen in the game. I usually feel pretty dumb for spending money on digital items that will in time fade to just a memory of 1s and 0s, but Shu-zen was worth all of those 1s and all of those 0s for the joy he brings me riding around.

Now, why were we here again? Is something happening today? Have I neglected some important event in my enthusiasm for adorable things? Hm…

Oh! Right! It’s Queueday. I’d better get on that.

No, that’s not a song title or lyrics.

Not long after I turned 18, I lost my sister, who was 22 at the time. Today is (would have been?) her birthday — specifically, her 30th. Don’t worry, though, it’s been long enough that I’m not, like, super sad or down or anything today. But given today is my day to Queue, it seemed wrong not to do something to honor her memory (even if that just ended up being a small handful of things).

I still don’t quite know what to say when people ask me if I’m the oldest sibling… but that’s as sad or pensive as I want to be here. This is The Queue! We take some Qs and we give ’em some As! So let’s get to it.

While questing through Silverpine I discovered an Orc who was content to relentlessly walk into a wall, head down and heedless of my successful endeavor to help out the encampment. I don’t know if he was working off a hangover, or if there was simply some comfort to be found in the sensation of solid, cool stone applied to one’s forehead, but I feel you, mister Orc.

The Queue: So I panicked

Okay, so here’s the thing. I didn’t have a Horde 110 when I bought Battle for Azeroth and as a result I couldn’t unlock the Nightborne or Highmountain Tauren. I had a level 104 Tauren Warrior, though, one of my oldest characters. He was my first Tauren, my first Horde character I rolled back before Burning Crusade came out and I’ve tried to get him to max level ever expansion just out of affection for him. But with that said, I have to admit I was having real trouble this time out. And Battle for Azeroth isn’t making me happy with the Horde, to be honest.

But I must have a Highmountain. I must.

And so, in a frantic day of Matt is sick to his stomach but he’s going to do this anyway I got my old buddy up to max level. Then I went and did the scenario where Magni tries to get Azeroth to go back to sleep because why not? I’m debating taking him to Argus for some Veiled gear before doing the Highmountain unlock scenario, because he’s like sub 800 right now in terms of iLevel. Look, I was sick, okay?

The Tauren are seriously still my favorite in WoW. Just the best. Can’t wait for a Highmountain Warrior alt.
