The Queue: Sci-Fi or Fantasy?

So, normally I wait until after the Splatfest has happened to tie it into a Queue, but this upcoming one actually asks a legitimately tough question: Sci-fi or Fantasy? Personally, I’m leaning Sci-Fi — the way I see it, Sci-Fi can technically encompass fantasy settings, but fantasy can’t encompass Sci-Fi. For instance, Futurama’s third movie or Doctor Who’s visit to any number of Medieval-like locations.

Some people, however, argue that as soon as a Sci-Fi show sets foot in a fantasy setting, it’s no longer Sci-fi, and therefore this “Fantasy within Sci-Fi” argument doesn’t apply. I say phooey to them! But I’m always open to disagreeing with more people, so let me know how you all feel about this conundrum, as well as the general Splatfest question in general.

For now, here’s The Queue.

The Queue: Let it go

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Oops I made a pretty. Look, it was a relaxing way to spend an evening, okay? Some people say they should take Photoshop away from me. I say they can pry it out of my cold, dead, frozen hands.

…let’s just forget the puns and move on to your questions, shall we?

The Queue: Can’t we all just get along?

Before we begin, a message from our sponsors…

Er, well, we don’t actually have any sponsors, so it’s really just me.

Ahem, anyway, I know that Blizzard is really pushing the Alliance/Horde conflict with Battle for Azeroth. (It’s pretty hard to miss.) And I know that we have people here on both sides of that divide. But we’re all here because we love WoW (and/or other Blizzard games). So let’s do our best to be chill about Blizzard’s encouragement to be out for each other’s blood, here and elsewhere. We’re all friends, right? Let’s keep being friends, even if one of us plays Alliance and one of us plays Horde. Y’all are all pretty great.

PSA time over. Let’s get to the questions.

The Queue: So now what?

A good portion of the Overwatch voice actors were at Blizzard yesterday during my visit, which — shocker! — was pretty cool. Even Blizz folks nerd out about those guys, so I didn’t actually get a chance to walk up to them, but I did get a nice picture… and got to hear a hearty Reinhardt laugh. These folks are great.

That said, BlizzCon and my yearly vacation are now over, and winter is going to be here soon. In other words, it’s all downhill until next October. Yay.

Here’s The Queue.

The Queue: None of you are paying attention to me right now

Let’s be honest. It’s BlizzCon opening day. You don’t care what I say here.

And I get it. It’s really not important in the grand scheme of things what I natter on about. So instead of pretending a dinosaur is going to eat people or writing “Lei Shen the Thunder King answers your questions” I’m just going to look through for anything interesting from yesterday’s Queue and answer or discuss whatever strikes my fancy.

Usually with the Queue I try and be informative or answer things I think you care about. But today? Gonna just talk about whatever.
