The Queue

Time for a Queue, of course!

(…Yeah, not my best intro. Quick, look, a distraction!)

So I can load this site and the CMS to write things for it, but I can’t load the comments on the Queue, nor can I access Discord to look at questions there, and I can’t get Twitter to load.

In case you’re wondering, it is really hard to write the Queue without anything to respond to. I was seriously tempted to just start writing fanfic about you. Luckily I could still play Cyberpunk 2077 for my transmog fix while I waited.

Overwatch is dead. Long live Overwatch.

This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and we’ll probably find time to answer in the next lobby, or something.

As always the counterpart to Friday’s yays is Monday’s boos. This time of year they just happen to be a little spookier.

While I call someone about this ghost that keeps hanging around, it’s time for — The Queue!

It’s Friday! Yay! We’re just one short day away from it being October, the best month. Not only does it have Canadian Thanksgiving, and Halloween — but it’s also got my birthday in it! It’s also the start of sweater weather here. I have a lot of sweaters to wear, and I’ve missed them.

While I try and figure out if I can fit more exclamation points into this post, it’s time for — The Queue!!!

Happy… Thursday? Is it Thursday? I suppose it must be if I’m here, but this whole week has felt off by about a day. Anyhow, it’s today and it’s my turn to write this and it’s already late.

So let’s hop right Queue it.

All this has to do with what Anna wrote yesterday is that her title inspired my response. I actually agree with her.

It’s weird, because I really, truly hated (and honestly on a gut level still hate) the monetization changes to Hearthstone‘s Battlegrounds, and yet now I find myself playing them more than ever before. I know I have a tendency to respond very strongly to external pressure — the even simple and completely arbitrary leaderboards on Duolingo lights my competitive streak, and I will learn French quicker than FirstnameBunchanumbers progresses through German. Even though the rewards track didn’t compel me to play before, now that the rewards are confined to Battlegrounds, and especially because they’re all cosmetic, I’m fighting tooth and claw to get them.

Also, weirdly, now that they got rid of SI:Sefin and added in Toxfin, I’m no longer calling for nerfs, while I’m also trying for the quest that lets me trigger as many Battlecries as possible. So much fairer! No, not because I’m the one playing it. Other reasons.

Sometimes it’s just word salad that got stuck in my head. Not always… not even often… but sometimes.

Hi, all. I’m your emergency Cory this week, as he broke the glass and informed me he needed a fill in for the Queue. I don’t know if it’s an earworm or not, but I’m listening to Switchback by Celldweller.

Strangely, this is one Friday where I don’t just feel tired. I got my Covid booster earlier so instead I feel just kind of off-kilter and unpleasant, but not exactly tired.

Is that better? Is it worse? I have no idea! So let’s get this Queue on the road so I can stop trying to be coherent!
