If you want a solid list of historical references and events that shape your character, playing a human, orc or even elf would probably suit you nicely. If you want a gigantic expanse of absolutely nothing that you can proceed to fill at your leisure, you might want to look at a draenei.

For all that World of Warcraft offers a huge game world filled with millions of players, the actual game is very much on rails.

After keeping players guessing about the end of Season 1, Diablo devs had promised to give at least two weeks warning before Season 2 ends. And, good to their word, they not only announced when Season 2 will conclude, but also threw in the Season 3 start date.
