The Queue: Krypto the Superdog

Krypto.

Superman would give the dog his cape in a heartbeat, and no amount of editing the images can change that. Superman and the mythos that surrounds him are among my favorite things, and of that entire complicated corpus of story, there is no element I love more than Krypto. Sure, a Kryptonian dog seems ridiculous, but at the end of the day, it’s all ridiculous, and there’s something beautiful about a person who always tries to do the right thing and help people being rewarded with a special friend who can understand him like no one else.

This is the Queue. Blame Red for all the Krypto pictures you’re about to see.

The Queue: Full Moon, Full Life

It’s full moon again, crazy how time flies

Sheesh what a week. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is out. Persona 3 Reload soundtrack is finally released in its entirety today. Dragonflight Season 4 is in full swing. And while I know not everybody is into Sportsball, the NFL Draft starts tomorrow and that’s a big deal for a team owner like myself.

I also found out some genius put together a three-hour radio show of Johnny Fever from WKRP in Cincinnati so of course I’ve been listening to that.

So while I groove to some classic rock and repeatedly hit refresh on ESPN’s draft coverage, let’s answer some questions!

The Queue: I do kinda want to set the world on fire, actually.

I’ve slowly but surely been working my way through the Fallout tv series. It’s excellent from what I’ve seen so far, and it’s truly bingeable but my kid has always had a knack for interrupting any media at the goriest (or horniest) of times, so there have been a whole lot of interruptions. In other words, I’m in the middle of episode 2, and I’ve already had to pause it four different times in the past half hour. I may have to give up and watch it on my phone in the bathroom or something. At least it has colors other than lime green?

This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we’ll give you the answers since we already paused it anyway.

The Queue: I’m indifferent towards humans

It doesn’t matter if you wanna take ’em or leave ’em, we’re stuck with ’em. Humans are everywhere: surrounding us in real life, but also a dominating option in video games, movies, and books. There is simply no escaping humanity, so you have to accept it.

I am in fact so indifferent to humanity, that I wasn’t even going to discuss it until rjagoda suggested I should. So here you have it, the final word for Friday.

The Queue: I like humans

I like humans in fantasy games. I know I’m the exception here: people are all about elves and dwarves, orcs and minotaurs, vampires and werewolves, demons and angels. And I like those too! But for some reason, I always tend to gravitate towards good old, boring, predictable, vanilla, run-of-the-mill humans. Their stories speak more to me.

When it comes to other races, the truth is that, although there are exceptions, they can often be very stereotypical. Elves are long-lived, pretty, magically-inclined, nature-loving, and a bit arrogant. Orcs are brash, hot-headed, and warlike. Dwarves dig and drink. Humans, on the other hand, are more of a blank slate — and for that reason, they don’t have a predetermined set of stories already written for them. I just find that the intricacies of political drama on human kingdoms and the pains and woes of human drama are not only easier to relate to, but they usually scrape a little deeper as well.

And with my defense of what is often called “the most boring race someone could choose to play as in a fantasy game” — I disagree — it’s time to Queue.

The Queue: Well seasoned

This is the first time I’ve gotten into the endgame of Diablo 4 and I think I’ve gotten the hang of it mostly. I’m still a little squishy, and a few levels short of 100, but things are going well! I’ve finished the battle pass, and am most of the way through the seasonal challenges. I think what I like so much about the Diablo endgame is that it’s a great game to listen to podcasts with. I can let the podcast wash over me while I slay the myriad baddies of Sanctuary.

While I get my next episode queued up, it’s time for — The Queue!
