The Queue: On the road
This week every year I go on vacation to a family reunion, the date of which has been set in stone since my grandfather was a toddler, in a rural enough place that I have to drive 30 minutes to get cell reception. Every year since I began content creation, something major has dropped this week — it’s been exactly one year since Overwatch League’s inaugural season finals, for instance.
So, what I’m trying to say is, you have me to thank for any major drops that happen this week. You’re welcome.
Let’s Queue!
The Queue: Feeling a little crabby
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
Can we just talk for a second about Lady Zharessa? I mean, out of all the really cool naga transformations, she probably got the coolest of them all. Multiple arms and lobster legs? The snake tail on your run of the mill naga is neat and everything, but I suspect being able to deliver death pinches is a lot more useful in the long run.
You know what else is useful? Questions with answers. Let’s get to those, shall we?
The Queue: Warcraft 4 should be hundreds of years after the events of WoW
One of the things the Elder Scrolls series does pretty well is carving out huge swaths of time between games. For example, The Elder Scrolls Online is set more than a thousand years before the events of Skyrim, with two eras having ended and started between them. Of course, the Elder Scrolls timeline is not what I would call uncomplicated, but it’s got nothing on World of Warcraft when it comes to complicated timelines.
But I really think that we should get a Warcraft 4, and I think it should be a game set hundreds of years after the game we have now, when the Horde and Alliance as we understand them are long gone and everything is different. Orcs and Humans staunch allies! Night Elves an expansionist power, the Forsaken and Scourge combined into a new faction called The Unliving ruled by Bolvar and Calia, all sorts of new stuff.
Let’s talk, Queue Believers.
The Queue: Order vs. Chaos is the the choice in the final Splatfest, and I’m sad no matter what side wins
As I assume you are all aware, the Splatoon 2 Splatfests are something of an interest of mine. I may not always partake equally, but I still pay attention to a given month’s and choose a specific side which I root for. Which makes it a little sad in saying that tonight/this weekend’s (extended) Splatfest is the final official one planned for Splatoon 2.
This time around, the theme is Order vs. Chaos. As you’ve likely surmised, I’m going to be playing for Team Chaos. That said, I’m still sad to see these go. I’m confident they’ll return in Nintendo’s next iteration of the series, but it’s still an ending. And I’ve never been great with endings.
But anyhow. Let’s Queue.
The Queue: All according to plan
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
Don’t worry, everything’s perfectly normal here, nothing to question in the slightest. Except, of course, the questions you guys have for us — so let’s go ahead and answer some of those, shall we?
The Queue: Voice acting is my favorite part of video games
There’s just something about voice acting that’s always fascinated me. I read an interview with the famously Lorenzo Music before the internet was a thing, and the idea of being simultaneously very famous yet anonymous was really intriguing, as was the idea that you could play almost anyone, even a lasagna-eating cat. When we repeat lines that are voice acted, we also mimic the inflection — an illusion! What are you hiding!
I know that not everyone is as excited by this aspect of games production as I am, but at the same time I know one of the main highlights of the next expansion for me is going to be whoever Deva Marie is cast to play.
This is The Queue, where a few of you were kind enough to ask me about a lowkey interest of mine and I tried to not go too overboard. Let’s A some Qs!
The Queue: This is the Gnome you’re looking for
Hello, Queue! I am indeed here at the precise right time and place because I am always here at the precise right time and place.
Right? Right.
The Queue: Next Week
Okay, so right now I’m playing World of Warcraft, I’m also playing Diablo 3, and I started a Dragon Age Inquisition playthrough last weekend. And also, the last chapter of the Fate of Atlantis DLC for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is coming out next Tuesday.
I have no idea how I’m gonna play all this.
This is the Queue. Let’s talk Blizzard games.
The Queue: It’s not a democracy, it’s a Mitchtatorship
Today’s title comes via Pumabackup. Well, technically, it comes via the comments. But Puma’s the one who alerted me of its presence. Three cheers for Puma!
Pu-ma! Pu-ma! Pu-ma!
Anyhow, let’s Queue.
The Queue: I went outside, I came inside
After a great deal of work dying and trying to find the entrance to Azshara’s Eternal Palace, and escaped the horrors of Nazjatar to venture inside, where it was also horrible.
Sigh.
