The Queue: Azeroth’s pending climate disaster, the end and the beginning

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. This was the first time Katie and I had the pleasure and honor of spending it with Max, our newborn. He came five weeks early and had some initial problems, and I thought the happiest day of my life would be when he was discharged from the NICU. I was mistaken though — it was the day after Christmas (when his grandparents got him an actual dragon mount), and we sat and listened to Puff the Magic Dragon. He calmed, the cat jumped up to snuggle with us, and as I had done 35-years ago, we were transported to the land of Honalee.

Music, imagination, fantasy, and storytelling are such a huge part of our lives for those of us reading these words, I couldn’t help but become awash in emotion as I realized we never really grew up — that we’re all Jackie Paper still keeping Puff’s might roar alive.

Let’s work to keep it that way.

The Queue: A very merry Mitchmas

I’m not a holiday person — not the winter holidays, anyway. But I have a few things I consider “traditions,” and making sure I listen to Tim Minchin’s ‘White Wine in the Sun‘ is one of them. In fact, I was almost going to name this Queue after it, but then I remembered… I already did that last year. Fittingly enough, he even posted a photo of (what I presume to be) the location he sings about in the song.

Anyhow, Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate, and happy holidays to those of you who don’t. Let’s see if I can’t make this an extra special Queue, eh?

The Queue: Take me with you

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

First off, it’s nice to see Jaina and her mother just having an idle conversation in Boralus. I wasn’t really expecting the idle conversation I happened to stumble across. But far more importantly — hey Katherine, I like libraries too. Actually I’d love to just, you know, take a look around the Proudmoore estate in general. I bet it’s really neat in there! …seriously it’s a giant building smack in the middle of the capital city, it’d be cool if you’d open the doors, you know?

Let’s get to your questions.

The Queue: The Business of Blizzard

Today I’m going to opine on some of the more business-related discussions that have been going on around the Blizzard community lately. And before we get started, insert the general statement here that while this site is obviously a fansite and wouldn’t be here without Blizzard, we don’t have any direct financial ties or obligations to them, and are by no means privy to inside financial information we can’t share, etc…

The Queue: Shoulda gone with Team Villain

Y’know, my gut instinct when I first saw this month’s Splatfest was to go with Team Villain. Makes sense, right? I’m evil, etc. etc. — but then I looked at the actual list of characters on each side. Link, not surprisingly, was on the heroes side, however.

Link is my main.

So, I went with Team Heroes, and it… well, we didn’t win. And now I’m thinking that I should’ve just counted Dark Link — who is not an Echo Fighter like Dark Pit is — as Team Villain and called it a day with that decision.

Oh well. I suppose we should Queue.

The Queue: Your reputation precedes you

Nothing quite like jumping into a new patch and nabbing an achievement — especially when it comes with a very pretty horse as a reward for years and years of filling reputation bars. None of the NPCs seem to be terribly impressed with him, but considering just how many absolutely bonkers things people choose to ride around on, I’m not exactly surprised. I mean, once a humble fruit vendor’s seen someone trot by on a four-footed pile of screaming Draenei heads I expect it’s all downhill from there, probably.

Let’s get to your questions!
