The Queue: Not a squid or a kid

This month’s Splatfest was a special one — it was the one-year anniversary Splatfest! As such, Nintendo decided to have squids face off against the game’s newest playable characters: octopuses. When I say “newest playable,” I mean you normally need to have the Octo Expansion to play as an octoling. For the Splatfest, however, anyone on the side of octopuses got to play as one!

Given looks are everything in life, I went with the side of the octopuses. Their hairstyles are just so much cooler. Sadly, despite being the more popular side, squids won the overall contest thanks to actual wins. Ah well, it was a super cool and fun Splatfest — and I haven’t even mentioned the Shifty Station this time around (it was so good, you guys).

But enough of that. Let’s Queue.

The Queue: Twirling, twirling, twirling

I still haven’t adjusted to the changes to WoW‘s global cooldown rules, and for now at least, I’m having a ton of fun spinning around and murdering stuff in Diablo 3 instead. It’s soothing. I’ll did still play some WoW this week, just to re-acclimate myself to everything.

Now, I love WoW, and I love Warriors, but nothing in WoW is as much fun as Whirlwind on my Barb with full Wastes and both Bul-Kathos blades. I can Whirlwind forever.

This is the Queue. Let’s twirl towards some answers, shall we?

The Queue: Well swash my buckles

It took over 40-some-odd tries, but I finally managed to get the Outlaw Mage Tower challenge appearance just under the wire. I don’t actually play Outlaw on my Rogue — the last time I saw that spec it was called Combat and I was raiding Icecrown Citadel. But it’s easily the prettiest out of all of the Rogue weapon appearances, so I’m glad I got my hands on it, even if I had to drop a chunk of gold on flasks, elixirs, and food in the process. Thanks, Legion. If I ever get around to picking up swords again, I know what I’m using for transmog.

The Queue: Larger than expected

Man, I really love how wonky the beta can get. I don’t know what this player did to make the Brutosaur mount so giant, but I appreciate it. But giant mounts are probably the last things on your mind right now — because it’s patch day!

At the time of this writing, I have no idea if the servers are up already or if we’ll be facing extended maintenance. Whatever the case, here’s a The Queue to hold you over!

The Queue: Proud of you, my precious egg

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

My only regret with the end of this expansion is that eventually I’m going to run out of alts to use silly toys on during cinematic sequences. Let’s hope Battle for Azeroth is full of many more opportunities in which our characters can take their place in the annals of history as…an egg. Or a tree. Or a murloc. Or the rear end of a horse. Or, you know, whatever else you’ve got kicking around in the ol’ Toy Box.

You know what I’ve got kicking around? Questions from you guys. Let’s answer those, shall we?

The Queue: In which I may have a jaunty hat

Okay. I don’t really wear hats in game because they crop in weird ways with my hair and inevitably look stupid. (Also Gnomes are super cute and why would you want to hide that with some bulky helmet?) So, really, this is a metaphorical jaunty hat. (Just don’t ask what it’s a metaphor for, because I really have no idea.)

Got it? Good. Let’s get to the Queue.
