Renown

Borrowed power systems have been a staple of World of Warcraft since the Legion expansion.

Renown: it's another system you need to progress in when you're playing at level 60 in Shadowlands, but what is it?

I was all for increasing my Renown when it meant that I had more of the Covenant Campaign story to see in Shadowlands.

If you managed to get your Renown to 22, then you doubtless finished your Covenant Campaign and have gotten your rewards -- such as an awesome mount, an LFR-level weapon (useful for those of us to whom the RNG has not been kind), and of course the satisfaction of some awesome cinematics.

In Shadowlands, each week we progress further with Renown, which has a weekly cap.

World Quest gear in Shadowlands scales with a variety of factors, including your personal item level and how much Renown you have, with the item level of the gear capping out at ilevel 200.

There are four Covenants in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, each with its own fully realized campaign, as well as unique activities and rewards.

Covenants can seem pretty daunting.

Shadowlands has been out for a few weeks now, and the Castle Nathria raid opens this week.
