Heroes of the Storm free hero rotation and sales for July 28

If you’re just getting started with Heroes of the Storm, here’s the deal: Every week there are some heroes you’d usually have to pay for that you can play for free in the free hero rotation, plus a number of heroes and skins on sale in the weekly sale. It’s a great way to try out new heroes without committing to buy, as well as grabbing new heroes, skins, and mounts at bargain prices.

This week’s rotation has some of our favorites, including Valla, Tyrael, and Tyrande — so what are you waiting for? Let’s jump into the game.

We’ll start out this week’s free heroes:

I polled our team of Heroes players to get some thoughts on what the rotation means for players this week, and got a lot of excitement over Valla and Tyrael:

Alex: I’ve been in love with Valla lately, she’s a lot of fun to play, though I consistently have mana issues which makes me very sad, because she can really mess people up when she has the mana to do it. And getting a quad/pentakill with a well-timed Strafe is a beautiful thing.

Mitch: TYRAEL!!! Tyrael is the best warrior, because he’s the one I play. Really though, Tyrael is a very mobile warrior. He isn’t as heavy a hitter, but if you spec him right, he can still put out some burst damage. And his shielding + movement abilities make him a great warrior to have on your team.

Anna: I’ve been using Valla’s other, non-Strafe Ult a bunch recently, and since Malfurion is also in the rotation I’ll probably stick with that this week.

Dan: Malfurion just got buffed so everyone who wants to play a support character should try him. Valla is the easiest DPS to play. Tyrande is very underrated as support and should definitely be tried. Illidan is often known as Killidan due to how fragile he is and how players tend to jump into group battles with him as if he is a tank. He’s great to take out glass cannons like Jaina or Kael’thas, but be more careful with him against tankier opponents.

Alex: Every Tyrande I’ve played with has managed to be great support AND put out tons of damage.

Anna: Chen can be really punishing for newer players because his Brew mechanic can take some getting used to.
