The Queue
The Queue: Let’s retire to a pumpkin farm
We’ve been in the hero business for a while now… but maybe it’s time to stop, take a break, and grow some pumpkins.
…no? Well, we can still dream.
The Queue: What a slow week
I’m not sure what it is about this week, but pretty much every day has felt like it should already be Thursday, and now that Thursday’s here, I’m beyond ready for it to just be Fri-day night. Maybe it’s because I’m excited for the weekend, maybe it’s because my PTO starts in 8 days. Regardless, this week has felt slow.
But who cares about speed when you have a Queue?!
The Queue: Time is the millstone under which we are ground fine
The past two weeks have been among the worst I have ever lived through.
I don’t have anything funny to say about that. I have not slept, I am not likely to sleep, I just keep trudging forward through this whole monotonously awful month and year, and everything keeps getting harder and harder and I see no real relief in the future. It’s been sincerely just the worst.
Lately playing video games has been all about keeping myself distracted. So hey, here’s the Queue, and then I’ll go back to distracting myself.
The Queue: High Comedy
The Queue knows what it did. This is why we can’t have nice things, Cory.
This is The Queue, where you… well, we’re here to answer questions, provided you get around to asking them.
The Queue: The big thaw
Last week was so cold for me — now it’s actually staying above freezing! My body doesn’t know what to do with temperatures like this. I am pretty happy that all of the ice is melting though, I already fell down pretty bad once this year, I don’t need to do it again.
While I search my drawers for more seasonally appropriate clothes, it’s time for — The Queue.
The Queue is very cold today
It’s so cold outside that even my eyeballs feel cold, which is pretty gosh-darned cold. And I know this because Abby refuses to go outside alone, so I have to walk with her, even the many times she wants to walk outside for long enough to decide she doesn’t want to be outside, then turn around and come back inside, then repeat again when she’s forgotten she didn’t want to go out in the cold. In short, I’m spending an above average amount of time walking around outside, so I can say without a doubt that it is very cold.
But enough about that. Let’s answer some questions.
The Queue: Science Fiction, Double Liz
Welcome to the multiverse Queue. I’m your friendly neighborhood SpideyLiz from Earth dimension C-137. It’s my first time writing this column, so to answer your burning question: Yes, I’m deliberately mixing fandoms for fun, I dare you to name them all before we get to the end. Cool, that was it, right?
Whoops, guess not. Know what’s not fun? Xenomorphs taking over our editors (you’re awesome Mitch, thank you for letting me try my hand). Let’s answer some questions, Mua’dib.
The Queue: Work in progress
Gonna just get right to it this week. It’s the Queue, you know how this works, and I haven’t slept more than an hour a day in a week so I doubt I could be clever even if I wanted to.
The Queue: Atmospheric storytelling
After last week’s article about survival games, Liz has been working through Subnautica, which made me want to go back through Subnautica. There’s a lot I like about this game, but the way they use atmospheric storytelling to both show you where to go without showing you where to go, while also heightening the utter dread of what could be lurking out there in the water just out of vision, is just freaking brilliant.
This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and we’ll answer from our cushy underwater seabase.
The Queue: Polar
As I’m typing this the winds are starting to pick up and the temperature is dropping. I’m in for a chilly few days where I live, and there’s snow and plummeting temperatures across a lot of the east coast right now. Stay warm out there folks!
While I find another blanket, it’s time for — The Queue.
