The Queue: Eoanthropus Dawsoni and the mystery of the elephant bone cricket bat
You may or may not have heard of Eoanthropus Dawsoni. From 1912 to 1951, this infamous hoax was believed by many to be the ‘missing link’ between apes and men. You may know it better as Piltdown Man. But what’s really fascinating to me about the whole story of Charles Dawson and his Dawn Man is how it was eventually proved to be fake.
Now, people suspected there was something fishy about Eoanthropus Dawsoni from the get go. While a lot of people defended the find, there were those who pointed out the anatomical flaws and argued that it was clearly made from separate fossils. So why did it take 40 years to figure out the thing wasn’t legit?

There’s a kind of long explanation for how I fell down a rabbit hole and landed on this particular pun headline and image, but I feel like telling the story just lessens the impact of both. And come on, does this really need an explanation?
This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and it’s literally our job to explain what happened but let’s not pick that that particular thread right now, hmm?
The Queue: Let us begin
I’ve finally got some Mythic kills under my belt this tier! Between real-life being busy, and not raiding on Mother’s day this was my first chance to get in with the team for the big show. Thankfully, we got Vigilant Guardian and Skolex down with little issue!
That worm hurts! I don’t feel like I’m a very squishy tank, but Skolex was chewing through my armor like a worm going through an apple.
After we cleared the two bosses that my guild had killed before, we had a little time for Dausegne progression. She must be able to see the future or something because man did she have our number. Although she couldn’t seem to see us cheesing her Staggering Barrage thankfully. Did you know that you can force it to choose someone if they’re the only one in the raid that doesn’t have the debuff from it? That meant that we could pile the whole raid into one, and then have someone with an immunity stay out to take the second. Creative!
While I work harder on not getting hit by too many mechanics at once, it’s time for — The Queue.

The Queue: Why do they keep letting the Captain go on ridiculously dangerous missions?
So I like Star Trek as a whole, and I grew up with the syndicated re-runs of the original series (child of the 70’s, yes, I am as ancient as Methuselah) and so, for me, Strange New Worlds is the first new Star Trek show to actually feature elements of the franchise that I recognize. I mean, Spock’s there! It’s not Leonard Nimoy, but sadly, he isn’t with us anymore.
So far I like the show quite a bit. Anson Mount is fantastic as Captain Pike, Rebecca Romjin does fantastic work as Una, I pretty much like all of the cast I’ve seen so far and that switcheroo with Lieutenant Kirk was pretty dang amusing. But I am still forced to admit that TNG had a point and that Captains of the TOS era keep exposing themselves to ridiculous amounts of danger. Pike just beams himself down into a tense, about to become a war meeting like it ain’t no thang and man, even with the whole I know my future thing it’s pretty nuts.
And man, Anson Mount is hot.

I have always wondered about AI and how it will actually shake out when we finally create a fully sapient artificial mind. If movies are to be our guide, it won’t go great for us.
It’s the Queue. Let’s chat.

Some bears just don’t know when they need to stand in the back.
This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and apparently a bear is volunteering to answer them. No? Okay, let’s Queue this.
The Queue: Busy weekend
I had such a busy weekend in real-life that I need a second weekend to recover! (Please don’t send me to the Bad Place)
I feel like my poor Druid has been so neglected at this point that it’s probably covered in a bunch of spider webs and dust. Also when it stands up a swarm of bats has been nesting in its fur and they fly off into the night. Just classic cartoon nonsense y’know?
Of course, I am a Venthyr Druid so those bats might be unrelated…
While I try and win the lottery so I can have more peaceful weekends, it’s time for — The Queue
The Queue: Liz is still alive edition
Hello, friends! I am in fact still here… just not extremely here. And also very tired.
The tired part is normal, but usually I exist a little more than I do right now. Insomuch as any of us exist. What is existence, anyway? How do we know that we, in fact, exist? Do I know you exist? All of us are just voices in the ether, communicating via this sequence of symbols. Can you prove my existence? Can I prove yours?
We may never know. But I don’t feel very existent right now.
So let’s spend our mutual non-existence, maybe-existence, partial-existence, or straight-up existence in this social experiment we call the Queue.
The Queue: Anyone hungry?
I don’t know how many of y’all remember this particular JINX! shirt, but it’s nearly as old as WoW itself, and I only recently (while writing this) put two and two together and realized Blizz added an actual Murloco NPC who sells “fish” tacos back in 8.2. And even if fish (or “fish”) isn’t my thing, today’s the kind of day where the U.S. finds an excuse to eat tacos and drink tequila, so I’m still very much craving tacos.
But that’s neither here nor there. Here is The Queue, and The Queue is….NOW!
