The Queue
The Queue: I’ll be in Mercia if you need me
Look, I’m on record as absolutely loving Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and it’s still absolutely one of my favorite games of the past ten years. But time marches onward, and I’m now a Viking dual wielding a Dane Axe and a Doppelhander, so let’s all get on board with the new hotness, shall we? I think we shall. While everyone in Azeroth is dealing with being trolled by zombies 24/7 I’ll be romancing everyone in East Anglia.
This is me saying that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and lady Eivor have won my heart, by being utterly unafraid to mix shocking violence, completely ludicrous side quests, deliberately upending a lot of tropes, and otherwise doing a great job of playing around with a kind of moral ambiguity I’ve not seen in a long time. This is one of the best RPG’s I’ve ever played.
Anyway, y’all have fun getting turned into monsters by other players. I’m petting a kitty. Let’s Queue this.
The Queue: Are we there yet?
Thanks so much for this transmog gear I’m not going to use and this pet I’m also probably not going to use, really, but can we get on with it?
This is The Queue where you ask us questions and we gladly supply the answers because we’re all just counting the days now.
The Queue: Late night pie
It’s currently a little after midnight on Monday morning and I just ate a delicious piece of pie. It was an apple, lemon, and raisin pie with apples from my parent’s backyard. You can all go ahead and be jealous now.
While you’re getting over your pie related jealousy, it’s time for — The Queue.
The Queue: It’s Friday already?
I know, I know, we’re supposed to celebrate Fridays. I, however, am just looking at my long list of unmet deadlines and I feel tired.
So let’s get this Friday thing over with so we can all go and take a nap.
The Queue: It’s cold
So in my gaming life, I’m choosing between Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, where I run around snowy Norway, and World of Warcraft, where I run around frigid Icecrown. In real life, it’s -15c outside, which is 7 degrees F. So basically everything is cold whether it’s in real life of in my gaming and that’s why I’m transmog farming in Firelands even though I’ve got literally nothing left to collect in there.
Anything to feel warm is what I’m saying.
It’s the Queue. Couldn’t the undead invade somewhere nice for once?
The Queue: Back in Icecrown
So far, I’ve run around killing a bunch of stuff that was already dead. Just like old times.
This is the Queue. Since it’s Wednesday and the EU should have been in the new content for several hours by the time this goes live, I’m assuming any content that’s a World Quest isn’t spoiler territory at this point. Just as a head’s up, I mention a specific character and his death in today’s Queue.
Yes, I saw the Warrior buffs. Yes, I like them. Yes, I think Fury got more than Arms, and Arms needs some work — not necessarily more damage, but more something. A new ability that’s as cool and fun to use as Rampage would be nice. Rampage feels very Fury — it’s like an explosion of attacks, your Warrior just goes berserk and starts swinging wildly. Arms could use an attack that feels like the Warrior is just dismantling someone with a precise chain of strikes. That’s just my opinion, anyway.
Let’s Queue this. Yes, it’s a dad joke. I have cats.
The Queue: My happy place
Ah, to be the prince of hell, casually battling my way toward the surface with a magic gun and the favor of the gods.
This is The Queue, where we have a whole lot going on so just be chill for a sec while we answer some questions, ok man?
The Queue: Snow!
We finally got our first big snowfall in Edmonton. I’m honestly surprised that we didn’t have any up until now. Over the weekend we got somewhere around 20-40cm in one nice big storm, roughly 8-16 inches for those of you not using the Metric system. Time to break out the snowshoes and get supplies I guess.
While I put on 5 more layers, it’s time for — the Queue.
The Queue: Queue?
How does this work again? I’m not sure anymore. But here we go, rushing into the fray anyway.
The Queue: Harrumph! >:(
Look, I said I’d have fun no matter who won this year’s Splatoween Splatfest — and I did! — but I’m still a bit salty that, despite its pretty dominant lead in popularity, Team Trick lost once again. Also, Pearl and Marina swapping their black/white outfits was simple but fantastic and I am all about goth Pearl. Anyhow, those are the only results we’ll be discussing today.
Everything else? It’s all coming up Queue.
