The Queue: Eoanthropus Dawsoni and the mystery of the elephant bone cricket bat

You may or may not have heard of Eoanthropus Dawsoni. From 1912 to 1951, this infamous hoax was believed by many to be the ‘missing link’ between apes and men. You may know it better as Piltdown Man. But what’s really fascinating to me about the whole story of Charles Dawson and his Dawn Man is how it was eventually proved to be fake.

Now, people suspected there was something fishy about Eoanthropus Dawsoni from the get go. While a lot of people defended the find, there were those who pointed out the anatomical flaws and argued that it was clearly made from separate fossils. So why did it take 40 years to figure out the thing wasn’t legit?

To this day, when I hear the original theme that plays behind the World of Warcraft login screen -- you know the one -- I am immediately drawn back to December of 2004, when I would log on to my Human Warrior Marketh (later deleted and rerolled as my Human Warrior Scythos because I didn't like the name Marketh anymore) and run around the Wetlands trying to get to the boat to Kalimdor.

The Queue: Rap battle

There’s a kind of long explanation for how I fell down a rabbit hole and landed on this particular pun headline and image, but I feel like telling the story just lessens the impact of both. And come on, does this really need an explanation?

This is The Queue, where you ask us questions and it’s literally our job to explain what happened but let’s not pick that that particular thread right now, hmm?

The Queue: Let us begin

I’ve finally got some Mythic kills under my belt this tier! Between real-life being busy, and not raiding on Mother’s day this was my first chance to get in with the team for the big show. Thankfully, we got Vigilant Guardian and Skolex down with little issue!

That worm hurts! I don’t feel like I’m a very squishy tank, but Skolex was chewing through my armor like a worm going through an apple.

After we cleared the two bosses that my guild had killed before, we had a little time for Dausegne progression. She must be able to see the future or something because man did she have our number. Although she couldn’t seem to see us cheesing her Staggering Barrage thankfully. Did you know that you can force it to choose someone if they’re the only one in the raid that doesn’t have the debuff from it? That meant that we could pile the whole raid into one, and then have someone with an immunity stay out to take the second. Creative!

While I work harder on not getting hit by too many mechanics at once, it’s time for — The Queue.
